IP Config

This is also referred to as IP Configuration tools, this is a very first step to take in troubleshooting most Network Errors, if your Client Computer or Devices does not Connect to the Network (especially if you are using DHCP Server), to see if the IP address of a Local Computer, the Sub-net mask and the default gateway are correct the first step to take is to launch the Command by clicking on start > run and type IPConfig> then type release> Enter > then type renew>Enter. Release will clear all duplicate IP Problems and renew will issue a new IP Address to the Computer from the Server, this is necessary because maybe your IP has expired or it is possible that the same IP address has been issue to another Computer or Device on the Network this may Cause IP Conflicts and connection error but if you are having issues with renewing your IP address then it is certainly that your ISP or Server is having problem with their Network database and connectivity.

PING

Abbreviated for Packet Internet Groper, it is a common TCP/IP Command Utilities tools  that also run from command prompt, it is used to verify a connection to a remote Computer, Printer, Router or Devices that uses TCP/IP Addresses, running this tools from command prompt will send a small packet of data to the remote System requesting a reply, after the request is processed it will then display  the reply, if there is no Connection from your Computer to the Server you will an error report usually "time out" error, then you can use the next TCP/IP Command to know where exactly you are having a connection break.

Tracert

This tools is simply means Trace Route, this command can be useful if you're successfully renew your IP as explained above and still don't connect to the internet, then you can then launch this tool by simply type "Tracert" into the run box to Trace the route taken by a packet of data you sent from your Computer to the destination IP Address, this is to verify that the data you sent arrived successfully to the destination location and ensure there is no communication break between your computer and the server. If you cannot reach your destination ( which is usually check with PING tool) you can use tracert tool to determine where exactly you are having a communication break between your Computer and the Server.
